We’re still flying high after our Daytona win, but the week following the race wasn’t a time to kick back and bask in the glory. It was actually quite the opposite. Of course everyone on our TRUMPF Audi RS3 LMS team is really excited about the results, but we know that even though we were able to assemble a car, prep it and compete successfully in a short period of time, that doesn’t mean we can just stop the momentum.

Sharing victory with teammates makes it all the sweeter, but constant fine tuning and evolution keeps a team improving.

Going forward, we know that to continue having that success, we have to also continue to work hard. That starts with focusing on the next event right now, even though it’s over a month away. The car was set up well, but how do we make it better? There’s so much to learn there with a new car. And the operation of both the car and the team netted us a win, but how do we make that even stronger? Even optimizing pit stops will be important as we get to know the car better. Also, from a partnership standpoint, how can we build on the success we’ve had there? Winning the first race helps, but that doesn’t guarantee anything for the rest of the season. Certainly, the mindset with our program is we’re all staying hungry rather than kicking our feet up.

Even from a physical training standpoint, our next event is at Sebring, where it has the potential to be really hot. It won’t be as long of a race as Daytona, but it’s a demanding track and driver fitness is always paramount.

It’s still fun to think about the success that the team had at that first race, but in my mind that’s just fueling us to try even harder moving forward into the rest of the season.
