Last month Long Road Racing and other Global Mazda MX-5 Cup teams participated in a hot-weather test at Roebling Road. The goal of the test was to confirm proper cooling for the hot summer months. Several different teams were invited to participate, specifically to create the incredibly tight drafting scenarios that MX-5 Cup is so well known for.

The break between events was a perfect chance to fit this test in. Roebling Road is in Savannah, Ga., so it was perfect for hot-weather testing, with temperatures in the high 80s.

It was a unique and also fun chance to get several different teams and drivers together to operate as a unit. Everyone got to be on the same team for a change! All of the participants provided feedback about their experiences so far this season as well as their results in the test. That data helped develop a best-practices guide for optimizing cooling when racing in hot weather while drafting with virtually zero air flowing into the radiator!

With the next round of the series at Road America this coming weekend, drafting will be paramount. Be sure to tune into the live stream at MazdaMotorsports.com for some guaranteed close racing!
