Last week I had two very different coaching opportunities that were both a ton of fun and really rewarding for me.

On Friday I was with the Track Advantage group for one of the many track events that they host at Virginia International Raceway throughout the year. This was my first time with the organization, and I really enjoyed the opportunity. It was a bit unique since I was the “house coach” for the day. That means I was helping a variety of drivers with whatever they wanted coaching on, like offering tips through reviewing video and giving car setup advice. I also gave a lunchtime presentation about driving a lap around VIR.

It was a different perspective for me, since I don’t usually get the chance to work with a lot of drivers at different skill levels and in a variety of different cars. It was a cool experience, and I appreciate Track Advantage having me out for the day.

From VIR, I headed to Road Atlanta to join the Forbush Performance team for a little mid-summer testing. There were several goals for the test, with the main one being for the drivers to gain experience at Road Atlanta. The team also wanted to get their cars dialed in for that track. The additional benefit of the test is that the team’s next race is in two short weeks at Road America, and there are a lot of parallels between the two tracks in both driving style and car setup. We expect this test to really pay off when we arrive for that race.

The test was especially rewarding for me because I got to help the drivers become proficient with the track and I also got to drive a lot, helping refine the setup. I’m excited for Forbush Performance’s next race and my future adventures with this team!
