As the 2022 race season is coming to a close, I’m looking forward to one final big event of the season: the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals, which are taking place in Portimão, Portugal.
This annual event rotates locations each year, and although this will be my first World Finals event, my teammate Ashton Harrison has participated on more than one occasion. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity in joining her this time to compete not only against our US competitors but also against those from Europe and Asia.
Preparation for the event started long ago for the team and me. The team shipped the cars to Europe over a month ago via container, and we expect a smooth arrival for that precious cargo! For me, it has been weeks of prep through studying video, simulation, and reviewing notes that I have gathered through my network of resources.
The Portimão circuit itself looks to be an incredible one, though we all know that elevation is hard to appreciate from photos and video. With its nature of blind corners and fast sweepers, it looks like it might be similar to Watkins Glen in some aspects, but with a European feel! It has even played host to the Formula 1 Portuguese Grand Prix the last couple of years.
I’m really excited to get going and to put all of my studying to good use. We’re on track this week, with plenty of testing time before the races throughout the weekend. I’m happy I had the chance to arrive early and acclimate myself to Portugal’s time zone while also getting to see some of the country’s beautiful sights and scenery before the start of our busy week at the track!
