It was exciting to get back to Virginia International Raceway for my first visit of 2024! I always enjoy my time at that track, and it’s neat to see some of the planned updates that they have in store there, including expanded trackside condos and continuous updates around the facility.
I was at VIR for a pre-season test with Krugspeed as they prepare for the upcoming SRO GT4 season with their Supra GT4. It was great to see the team, who I also worked with last season, as well as the new faces who have joined. Krugspeed will have some different drivers this year, and one of our goals at VIR was to get them acquainted with the car and comfortable with the team.
I really enjoyed the opportunity to help shake down the car from the winter prep that the team did, and I helped get the setup and balance of the car suited to the drivers. It was great to be able to work with friends, and we had a very successful two days of testing.
In all, it was a satisfying first step as we prepare for the first race, which will be at Sonoma in just over a month’s time. Going to Sonoma will be exciting, since it’s one of several tracks that have undergone a repaving during the off-season. There will be a lot of new things to learn once we get there.
Speaking of getting the season started, the Sprint Challenge opening round kicks off this week in Sebring, Florida. I’m looking forward to traveling there later this week so I can work with the JDX racing team at their first race of the season.
