This time of year in motorsports is quite different than most other times. Typically, from week to week throughout the season, we’re looking back at the previous race in review or planning and prepping for the upcoming event. Plus, my schedule during the week is usually filled with testing and other various events.
At this time of year, though, things are slowing down, and I’m a lot more focused on planning for next year as a whole. That can certainly look different depending on the role you’re in. As a driver, I’m working on trying to put rides together for next season, whether that’s a full season with a team or a drive for certain events. Daytona is on the heels of the New Year, so that event is coming up before we know it!
Planning from a coaching standpoint is about lining up plans with current clients from this season as well as developing new leads for either individual clients or entire teams. It can be a lot of fun and very dynamic to have conversations you typically wouldn’t have, whether that’s with old contacts who are starting up new programs or potential clients you’ve never met before. It also is a perfect time to really dissect and debrief with your existing clients to identify what opportunities remain and set goals for the upcoming year, and to develop a plan to achieve these goals.
At the same time, this season of planning can really make life hectic, because things are up in the air, and there’s a fair amount of uncertainty. I’m thankful to be returning with many of the programs that I’ve worked with in the past, and to have room for some new and exciting opportunities in 2025. I’m always hungry to be driving while also supporting many clients with my coaching program.
One thing is for certain: motorsports—and especially sports car racing—is certainly flourishing in the U.S., and I’m very thankful to continue being involved in it as a new chapter of my career unfolds. Stay tuned for announcements this coming winter, as I share news about programs I’m excited to be involved with!
