This past week I was traveling between Circuit of the Americas and Virginia International Raceway. My time at COTA was spent with my friends at Apex One, who have rebranded themselves from Apex Driving Events to Apex One because their scope is getting much bigger in the coming months.
Beyond the incredibly well-run and comprehensive test events they offer, Apex One is expanding into a newly announced endurance racing series that will play host to GT3, GT4, and other internationally recognized classes.
Apex One has partnered with European endurance series Creventic. This multi-class endurance racing structure will not only allow all modern GT cars into an entry-level racing format, but it will also utilize the existing Creventic rulebook’s balance of performance (BoP), all while on a Michelin racing slick.
The advantage of this structure is that it allows either teams new to racing or veteran teams looking for more track time to have a place to compete in an endurance environment that utilizes cost cap controls, which is a hallmark of the Creventic series.
The first Stateside event for Apex One Endurance Racing will be a 10-hour race hosted in late November at Sebring International Raceway, with a second, 12-hour race scheduled in early February at COTA.
This is a really exciting time for the Apex One group. They’re already great at all aspects of race operations, including both on-track and off-track components, and this is an exciting new chapter for them. I look forward to being a part of the first Apex One Endurance Racing series later this year!
