The Mazda paddock even got their own street sign at the Runoffs this year!

Last week included some really exciting news for Mazda Motorsports as well as Mazda racers and fans with the unveiling of the Mazda3 TCR race car, which will begin competition next season. This project has been in the works for quite a while, and it’s so satisfying to see the program coming to fruition. You can read more details about the new car here.

In the meantime, the SCCA Runoffs are happening at Virginia International Raceway this week. It’s very exciting for me because it’s my home track and it’s always great to be a part of such an iconic club racing event that draws participants from all over the country. This past weekend was very busy with testing and preparations for a lot of racers, and I enjoyed assisting them with coaching and car optimization for the challenging VIR circuit.

While this is a busy week for SCCA racers, it also happens to be the final event of the season for IMSA with Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta. I’m excited to be traveling there later this week to compete in the Michelin Pilot Challenge Series race. I’ll be with Automatic Racing in the #09 Stoner Car Care Aston Martin Vantage. You can tune in on Friday at 1:15 pm ET for live coverage at IMSA.tv. Check back next week for a recap of all the excitement!
