This past weekend was the annual SRO World Challenge event at Virginia International Raceway, and one aspect that was very welcome was the return of fans in full force! There was a tremendous turnout of fans, with folks camping all over the scenic pastures of VIR and a lot of people bustling through the paddock. It’s been over a year since I’ve seen that kind of fan activity at VIR, and it felt so nice.
Amid all that positive energy, Forbush Performance was able to capitalize on their momentum by sweeping the Touring Car category with two wins. Being nice teammates, the two drivers split the victories! Caleb Bacon took the race one win, making it three wins in a row for him to further secure his points lead. Luke Rumburg is new to the team this year, and he followed up a strong performance at COTA by taking the Touring Car race two win at VIR. Being able to work with these two drivers this year has been really exciting for me. They’re both young and talented, and giving them input that they’re able to implement right away to make a positive impact is just a lot of fun.
On the SprintX GT4 side, co-drivers Matt and Damon also managed their best results of the season, finishing fourth in race one and having an exciting battle for a podium position on the final restart in race two. The progress that not only the drivers have made, but the entire team, too, is really starting to show in the results! Every time they go out, the team makes strides both internally and on track, and it’s a lot of fun to see all of the effort paying off.
Ashton Harrison was also at VIR, running in Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and she was able to overcome a mechanical issue in race one to finish on the podium in race two. She went into the event as the points leader, and this result leaves her still a part of the championship fight as the series heads to the next round at Watkins Glen in two weeks.
I’m really proud of everyone’s efforts, and it is so rewarding for me when I see clients achieve great results and continue making progress toward our long-term goals!
