This past weekend was a fun one! I got to do some endurance driving with Thunder Bunny Racing during the final round of the WRL Eastern Championship at Sebring International Raceway.
Thunder Bunny Racing is a veteran team in the WRL series, and they campaign a trio of Supra GT4 cars in the top-tier class. It was so nice to be invited to run with such a professional organization, and it gave me a chance to team up with my good friends Laura Hayes and Bill Graham.
The schedule for the weekend was quite a feat. There was a full day of practice and qualifying on Friday and twin 8-hour races on Saturday and Sunday. Talk about a lot of seat time!
The event format puts a big emphasis on car prep, and it requires long hours for the crew. With a weekend schedule like this, it really is a team effort, not just in terms of prep work but also with the many pit stops throughout the two days of racing.
We had fantastic results, beginning with a win in race one. That helped Thunder Bunny Racing take the Eastern Championship lead. We followed that up with a second-place finish on Sunday, which secured the championship for the team.
It was a ton of fun to be with such a great group of individuals and to get to drive a platform I know quite well around a track I also know quite well. We had a field of over 70 cars, so that added to the enjoyment.
Overall, it was a fantastic weekend with lots of seat time, and it was a real pleasure to be with such a well-run team. Having the opportunity to help them achieve winning results made it even better!
